The Solution We identified high-risk infrastructure components by assessing their vulnerabilities and establishing control over the level of risk to the operational environment. We were responsible for scanning and performing in-depth penetration testing on multiple applications related to compliance and relevant industry standards. The tests were conducted in line with Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) and ISO27001. We also performed a comprehensive Source Code Security Review to highlight potential security vulnerabilities within the client’s IT landscape. The company has two main production and packaging facilities and exports their internationally certified products to over 70 countries in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and the Middle East. Agria’s multi-faceted business development approach includes continuous modernization, regular portfolio expansion and an ongoing commitment to environmental protection. The Solution As part of their global plan for digitalization and process optimization, Agria needed a technology partner who would help craft the company’s digital roadmap for years ahead. The first step involved migrating their heavily customized SAP ECC 6.0 solution to SAP S/4HANA to allow seamless management convergence of all company subsidiaries in Bulgaria, Russia, Ecuador and Indonesia. The main objectives of the project were standardizing processes across Agria’s global business entities, increasing visibility over KPIs as well as the entire business and reducing overhead. Agria executed an extensive RFP procedure to find the best vendor for their digitalization journey and Scalefocus was among the shortlisted companies. They tasked us with executing their ERP migration strategy due to our extensive experience in delivering complex enterprise projects for business transformation and solid track-record of successful SAP S/4HANA implementations within the manufacturing industry. We guided Agria in unpicking the SAP ECC 6.0 customization that was not driving satisfactory results and provided the complete picture of the value they would get moving forward with SAP S/4HANA. In this way we were going to fulfill step one of the global plan to move all of Agria’s subsidiaries to SAP and resolve the long-standing issue of production and resource planning optimization. SAP S/4HANA is a future-ready enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with built-in intelligent technologies, including AI, machine learning and advanced analytics. It transforms business processes with smart automation and runs on SAP HANA—a market-leading in-memory database that offers real-time processing speed and a dramatically simplified data model. After careful evaluation with the active participation of Scalefocus’ consultants, Agria decided to go with S/4HANA Single Tennant Edition, which provides next generation ERP capabilities packaged as Platform as a Service (PaaS) for maximum flexibility and scalability. The decision allowed the company to take advantage of all benefits this comprehensive cloud-focused approach offers, specifically a flexible licensing model and compliance with regulations in the countries of all subsidiaries. Having carried out the first Greenfield SAP S/4HANA migration in Bulgaria the year before, Scalefocus had the confidence and full expertise to rise to the occasion and turn Agria into a trailblazer on yet another front. The modules in the implementation scope were Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Plant Maintenance (PM) and Quality Management (QM) and we configured them in a single integrated system. The Scalefocus SAP team utilized PP/DS (Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling) with characteristic dependent planning, which we had to modify in a way that would enable extremely precise resource planning and configuration. It was a necessary step to ensure compliance with varying sets of international regulations and quality standards. We conducted walkthrough tests, key user trainings and provided dedicated hyper care to secure seamless integration. Results Agria’s SAP S/4HANA migration strategy involved complex decision making on the Scalefocus SAP team’s part due to the global scale of the project and the sophisticated nature of production processes. Our Offshore Software Development Center enrolled a significant transformation initiative – moving away from Microsoft's Team Foundation Server (TFS) to a next-generation development management system. The TFS was used as a centralized system to manage the whole software development cycle and the complete source code. But it was an outdated approach using a central repository, where distributed depository would have been more beneficial for the client's team – giving them the flexibility to work locally without relying on a central server. We conducted numerous interviews with the relevant stakeholders to determine the current "as is" IT environment and identified any gaps in the process. Our teams determined the pain points and offered a few sustainable solutions. Our client chose Azure DevOps Server as a viable solution, and we implemented it. The migration provided the client with full control of how and where data could be stored. As healthcare providers need to comply with rigorous data safety regulations – the information was stored on-premises. Our solution made sure the information was cloud-ready and could be easily transferred at any time. The RDC also helped the client to reach DevOps maturity. Following the SAFe methodology, we implemented DevOps to break down organizational silos and developed a Continuous Delivery Pipeline (CDP) – enabling our client's teams to deliver market-leading solutions at much greater speed. The software that we revamped is aimed to facilitate the work of laboratories and medical personnel. It enables them to understand the performance of various medical hardware devices through detailed, high-quality visualizations such as test progress updates and task completion levels. Our OSDC revamped the software and aligned it with the One Company Design requirements of the client. The challenge was to modernize the UI/UX while keeping the functionalities and build an intuitive experience for users with various technical competencies. The modernized UI/UX led to two times higher productivity rates among end-users Optimizing performance through R&D One of our clients' products enables medical personnel for early diagnosis of cancer through examination of cytosmears. The hardware takes samples automatically in 5 steps, but one of these steps still involves manual interactions. Our R&D team had to develop the necessary software that would automate this process. We were collaborating with the client's team and external teams responsible for developing the hardware. Our teams built several MVPs using different technological stacks. They consulted the client at every step of the process, advising them of the pros and cons of the suggested technologies and verifying and testing their productivity and performance. The company’s trading business includes mid-to-large scale asset-based portfolio management and encompasses complex origination business. It primarily trades commodities such as electricity, emissions certificates, natural gas, renewables, and a vast range of financial derivatives. Additionally, the company owns and manages a gas infrastructure business. The Solution After an initial analysis phase, carried out jointly with client stakeholders and architects, we concluded that streaming technologies were a great fit. Our team proceeded to design a platform for event-based data processing. As part of the initial feasibility study, we implemented a PoC, which was later extended to a fully-fledged solution. A significant accomplishment during this project was leveraging the event-based streaming technologies to enable close to real-time data processing and reporting. Furthermore, our dedicated streaming platform allowed for the execution of calculations and data manipulations outside of the ETRMs, which mitigated dependencies with the existing ETRM landscape. On top of that, by storing intermediate data, our solution effectively rendered disparate data silos obsolete and unified them in a single source of truth. We employed a modern approach for data integration and management, focused on several key points: Rapid data availability to enable close to real-time reporting; Minimized dependencies between price dependent/independent results – this opens the opportunity of redesigning reporting processes and reducing complexities in the future; Improved integration monitoring, reporting parallelization and troubleshooting; High availability, so that business-critical processes can run without downtime. Results Our platform began as a PoC and was subsequently tested in real-world scenarios and implemented in a production environment afterwards. The company worked with various market associations in developing a POC for a bullion software solution using Digital Ledger Technology (DLT) that would be fully standardized on a global scale. aXedras also collaborated with national and international authorities to shape the legal international framework for DLT. The Solution As 2020 turned to be a record-setting year for gold, the international trading and investment community was reminded once again that the precious metal market, despite its centuries-old traditions, still has a long way to go in terms of streamlining its operations. It has so far failed to utilize instruments to safeguard the authenticity of assets and to provide the much-needed transactional transparency for stakeholders. As gold’s relevance skyrocketed with the progression of the Covid-19 crisis, it became blatantly obvious there were no such tools in place. The industry had a gaping need for working mechanisms to help document the provenance of products and to provide a track record of their lifecycles. The technology collaboration between Scalefocus and aXedras began with the clear idea that we were not going to disrupt the precious metal industry, which has solid traditions and operates within a defined framework. Rather, the idea was to help each player comply with the rules and regulations of the very market they operate in through a blockchain-based infrastructure. It allows for a private permissible network where members can transfer data to their business partners securely. Through the decentralization DLT provides, participants can be sure information has not been adjusted or manipulated and maintain full confidentiality while having the necessary transactional transparency. The way the verification platform works is once an asset, such as a gold bar, is refined, it gets a digital twin carrying all of the information about it: where the asset is coming from, details about the manufacturing process, how and when it was moved as well as who took part in the various lifecycle stages.
